Haole Tita Art

by Jia

I work to inspire and encourage those who view my art through whatever
medium I choose. Personal expression and creativity are vital to me. My aim is
to tell the stories I know through my art and thus touch lives.

I trained under Shirley Geier of Nashville, Tennessee and Dr. Harvey Collins of
Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. I thank them for what they
taught me and where they led me in my life's work.

I am working on four lines:

• A series of 5 works in oil that I call my coloring book series. They are fun and
bright and are a joy to create. Each one tells a story.

• A 12-part series of dramatic portraits titled "Beautiful Hearts/Tortured Souls".
Each subject portrays one or both of these aspects. The
first of this series is shown as a progressive work.

• A commissioned 10-15 work series of pen and ink drawings for Olivet
Nazarene University.

• A series in oil depicting musical arrangements from Handel's "Messiah." The
first will be published in 2008. Olivet Nazarene will display these works in the
university chapel foyer as part of ONU's 100-year anniversary commemoration.
This is perhaps the most exciting art I have ever done.

I welcome life and all of its diversity as I offer the universe the very best I have
as a creative force on this planet.

Best,
Jia
